VoiceType — Privacy Policy

Overview

VoiceType is a free Chrome extension built by MachineFriendly that enables voice-to-text input for ChatGPT. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data VoiceType accesses and how it is handled.

Data We Collect

We do not collect any personal data.

VoiceType does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information, browsing data, or usage analytics. We have no servers that receive data from the extension.

Microphone Access

VoiceType requests access to your microphone to enable voice dictation. Microphone access is only active when you explicitly activate the dictation feature. Audio is processed locally and through ChatGPT's built-in voice API. We never receive, store, or have access to your audio recordings or transcriptions.

Permissions

VoiceType requires the following Chrome permissions:

• activeTab — to interact with the ChatGPT page when you activate the extension
• microphone — to capture voice input for dictation

These permissions are used solely for the core functionality of the extension. No data is transmitted to MachineFriendly or any third party.

Third-Party Services

VoiceType interacts with ChatGPT (by OpenAI) through the browser. Your use of ChatGPT is governed by OpenAI's own privacy policy and terms of service. VoiceType does not use any other third-party services, analytics, or tracking tools.

Data Storage

VoiceType does not store any data locally or remotely. No cookies, local storage, or databases are used. The extension operates entirely in-memory during active use.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
